Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov spent Hr 836,000 to pay for renting a private jet to deliver from Italy to Ukraine Ukrainian Guardsman Vitaliy Markiv who was fully acquitted by the Italian Court of Appeal in Milan, Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said.

Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov notified the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) that on Nov. 5, he made expenses in the amount of Hr 836,244. The need to use a charter flight was due to the difficult epidemic situation in the Lombardy region, the imposition of a curfew, a lockdown and the threat of possible closure of regular air flights between Ukraine and Italy,” Gerashchenko wrote on his Facebook page on Nov. 5 evening.

According to the deputy head of Interior Ministry, this is why Avakov decided to pay for the charter flight at his own expense, provided for in his declaration.

As reported, on Nov. 3, the Milan Court of Appeal issued an acquittal in the case of Vitaliy Markiv.

On Nov. 4, Markiv returned to Ukraine with representatives of the Ukrainian delegation.
