BBC: Lutsk siege ends after president’s bizarre video

Maksym Kryvosh, the man who held a bus with 13 passengers hostage for 12 hours, lies face down after surrendering in Lutsk, a city in western Ukraine, on July 21. He released the hostages after President Volodymyr Zelensky fulfilled one of his bizarre demands and endorsed the 2005 documentary film “Earthlings.”

A stand-off in Ukraine has ended with security forces freeing 10 hostages from a bus in the city of Lutsk and detaining the gunman, after a bizarre intervention by the president. Pictures showed the gunman lying on the ground after his arrest. Just before the man’s arrest, President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a short video to comply with one of his demands – promoting a 2005 animal rights film.
