Belarusian law enforcers detained 24-year-old Ukrainian Pavlo Rabeshko on June 3 in the Belarusian town of Stolin, in the Brest region, according to a report by the human rights center Vyasna.
Rabeshko’s location and the reason for his detainment are unknown.
According to preliminary information, Rabeshko is in the custody of the country’s main security agency — the KGB — in the city of Pinsk.
Rabeshko, who has a Belarusian residency permit, was captured at home. Five police officers conducted searches there, having seized his cellphone.
On July 2, Belarusian dictator Aleksander Lukashenko ordered the closure of borders with Ukraine. He claimed he wanted to stop what he called “a huge inflow of weapons” from Ukraine.
He also claimed there were “dormant terrorist organizations” in Belarus that were preparing a coup. He claimed these organizations were coordinated by foreign countries, including Ukraine.
