Russia will have to deal with the consequences if it continues to act aggressively, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in an interview with CNBC.

“President Biden’s been very clear about this. If Russia acts recklessly, or aggressively, there will be costs, there will be consequences,” Blinken said.

At the same time, he expressed concern over the actions of the Russian Federation on the borders with Ukraine, echoing the opinion of Washington that the maximum concentration of Russian troops has been observed in this region since 2014. Blinken noted that the United States is in very close contact and coordination with allies and partners in Europe, and they all share Washington’s concern over the situation around Ukraine.

At the same time, Blinken said that the United States and the Russian Federation have areas where the interests of the two states coincide and where countries can work together, and cited arms control and the extension of the New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) as an example.
