Naftogaz Ukrainy considers the development of renewable energy sources to be a promising investment area and actively discusses relevant projects with potential international partners, Naftogaz board chairman Andriy Kobolev has said at the Ukrainian Week in London.
“In our strategy, renewable energy has a large section, and this is a large investment area in which we plan to invest money in the near future,” he said.
Kobolev reported that now Naftogaz launches small solar plants near the Ukrtransgaz gas transmission system, however, its plans are more extensive.
“We have developed a list of potential projects that we are currently discussing with international investors,” he said.
He stressed that the advantage of the company is the availability of legally clean areas located throughout Ukraine, most of which have already been connected to the power grid.
The Naftogaz head also said that he considers shale gas production a promising direction for Ukraine.
“Ukraine can produce a lot of shale gas safely and environmentally friendly,” Kobolev said.
