The Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation will hold its first charity gala in November. The event will take place at the ArtHall D12, 12 Desyatynna St., in Kyiv. The charitable donation for participation in the gala dinner is Hr 5,000.

The foundation created by the family of late Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, a renowned Canadian-Ukrainian economist and scholar, will hold its first charity event on Nov. 14.

The charity will comprise of a number of events including — a silent and a live auction, a festive dinner from Ukrainian top chiefs, a lottery with giveaways, a fashion performance from Ukrainian designers and modern Ukrainian music.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will include a cocktail hour with the members of the honorary committee.

The full list of committee members include Kateryna Yushchenko, former first lady; Bishop Borys Hudziak, eparch of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Eparchy of Paris; Guillaume Scheurer, the ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine; Roman Waschuk, the ambassador of Canada to Ukraine; Liliya Hrynevych, minister of education of Ukraine; Ihor Zhdanov, minister of youth and sports of Ukraine; Ivan Malkovych, founder of “A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA” Publishing House; Oles Doniy, head of OstaNNia Barykada Artistic Group and Olena Biletska, founder of the Ukrainian Women’s Guard NGO.

The event will gather well-known personalities, cultural figures, business representatives and diplomats.

The main goal of the foundation is to foster positive changes in Ukraine, by educating Ukrainian youth to become the locomotive of these changes.

Bohdan Hawrylyshyn was a Ukrainian-born global economist, co-founder of the World Economic Forum in Davos, a fellow and member of the Board of the World Academy of Art and Science. Hawrylyshyn was a full member of the Club of Rome, a non-government organization, which brings together political leaders, renowned economists, representatives from the business community. As an expert on issues of public administration, international business and cross-cultural relations, he has been a contributor, moderator and chairperson at international conferences and seminars in over 88 countries.

Hawrylyshyn took an active stance on promoting good governance in his native country. Hawrylyshyn created the council of advisors to the presidium of the Ukrainian parliament. Hawrylyshyn died in 2016, in Kyiv, at the age of 90.

The American-Ukrainian Council advised Leonid Kravchuk, the first president of independent Ukraine, three prime ministers and a number of members of parliament in their attempt to implement important reforms. He dedicated his time and resources to help Ukrainian youth receive proper education. Hawrylyshyn created the International Management Institute in Kyiv and took an active stance on connecting Ukrainian students with their European counterparts.

The Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation was established in 2017, and took an active stance on educating Ukrainian youth. Most notable projects include the Young Generation Will Change Ukraine program which brings together young regional leaders and helps them in their quest for regional success.

With the United Nations, the foundation offers young Ukrainians the ability to participate in the U.N. General Assembly and is aimed at increasing the participation of youth in international politics and spreading of U.N. principles among young people.
