Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv region) estimates the losses from the introduction of quarantine measures at Hr 380 million per month.

“Speaking of our financial reserves, the situation is disappointing. At present, we have funds to work for 1-1.5 months. We are talking about involving new targeted loans from state-owned banks. We are awaiting proposals and signing loan agreements with commercial banks,” Director General of Boryspil International Airport Pavlo Riabikin told Interfax-Ukraine.

He also said that the lost revenue of the enterprise during the enforced halt of air traffic is about Hr 380 million per month.

“Boryspil is the only airport in the country that currently operates evacuation flight services. Today, the airport of Lviv is reserve for us. We are still working around the clock. Performing a very small number of flights, we provide all necessary service according to the standards for work. For example, one emergency rescue team should have 74 people around the clock,” the airport’s general director said.

He also said that the airport’s cargo terminal is fully operational, and the load on specialized cargo flights is now even higher than in the pre-quarantine period, since then some cargo was transported by passenger aircraft.

According to Riabikin, some 70% of the airport’s staff is in an idle mode and receives less than half of what they received usually.

“We really hope that the government will launch a repayable financing program to support the wages fund, which we have heard many times about, but have not yet seen it in operation. It is our hope that we will be able to restore the airport’s operations without too much loss, and we will start to earn money on our own. However, no one can say when it will be,” the head of the enterprise said.
