Boryspil and Lviv international airports, as well as Kyiv and Kharkiv railway stations, will participate in a pilot project on the development of accessibility in Ukraine.

“The pilot project will last a little over a year, after which we will summarize and scale the project at the national level. As a result, every passenger, regardless of gender, age, or health status, should receive high-quality and comfortable services from the state. And the industry will receive a clear list of tasks, which are necessary to create a barrier-free environment,” Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

According to him, the final list of objects participating in the pilot is still being formed, but Boryspil, Lviv airports, Kyiv, and Kharkiv railway stations have already confirmed their participation.

The pilot project provides for the selection of key transport infrastructure facilities in different directions – railways, air, public transport. They, together with independent experts, will be audited for compliance with the principles of accessibility.

The project will result in the creation of general recommendations for the development of various types of transport infrastructure – airports, train stations, vehicles, etc.

The Ministry of Infrastructure also named the key steps for the development of barrier-free infrastructure facilities: creating a safe and accessible space for all passengers, especially low-mobility groups; the presence of convenient and understandable navigation; provision of quality services, professional development of personnel; implementation of digital solutions, adaptation of websites to the needs of people with disabilities.
