Britons are rushing to take in Ukrainians fleeing from Russia’s war on Ukraine, a UK broadsheet has reported. Despite the offer of 350 pounds a month to take in families or an individual not being overly generous, the large number of people applying caused the government website to crash.

Over 2.8 million refugees have fled Ukraine since Russia’s invasion began, with more than half going to Poland, according to the UN refugee agency.
