Businessman Nahorny, suspected of treason, released from pretrial arrest

Tymofiy Nahorny, a Ukrainian businessman, former husband of Olympic gymnastics champion Lilia Podkopayeva has been detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The photo was released on Oct. 8, 2018, by Nahorny's friend, Danylo Miro, on his Facebook page.

Businessman, volunteer and ex-spouse of Olympic gymnast Liliya Podkopayeva, Tymofiy Nahorny, has been released from custody, his lawyer Yevhen Solodko said. Nahorny is suspected of committing state treason.

“The day is not in vain – Tymofiy Nahorny was released from custody,” Solodko said on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

As reported, Nahorny was arrested on October 2, 2018, within the framework of criminal proceedings under Article 110 (high treason) and Article 190 (fraud) of Ukraine’s Criminal Code. The next day he was informed about the suspicion of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 110, Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 4 of Article 190 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.

Nahorny has denied all wrongdoing.
