You're reading: Cabinet approves draft agreement extension with EU for one year to support justice reform

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft agreement on the extension of the agreement with the European Union on support of judicial reform for one year.

According to the decree No.854 dated Nov. 16, the Cabinet authorized First Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv to sign this agreement.

The report, which is attached to the decree, says that the decision was made to continue the implementation of the project “Support to reforms in the field of justice in Ukraine” for one year.

The project will ensure the development strategy for reforming the criminal justice sphere, aimed at implementation of the Criminal Procedure Code; assistance in the implementation of police reform, the prosecutor’s office, the system of ensuring citizens’ rights to protection and access to justice, guarantee of the independence of the judiciary, prevention and combating corruption and provision of information to the public.
