You're reading: Catch the Christmas Spirit with Ole’ Blue Eyes

Pavlo Ilnytskyy – Lviv’s crooning heir to legends like Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé – kicks off the Christmas season with this English-language ode to the charms of the holiday season.

Is there any better way to get into the Christmas spirit than through the vocals of Ole’ Blue Eyes himself?

Join charming Leopolitan crooner Pavlo Ilnytskyy as he shares his wit and humour in the long, holiday tradition of deep-voiced troubadours regaling audiences with entertaining stories and smooth vocals at the Frank Sinatra Tribute: Evening of Christmas Hits concert at Kyiv’s October Palace (1 Heroyiv Nebesnoyi Sotni Alley) on December 16 at 19:00.

Described as a magical trip back to the America of the ‘50s and ‘60s, the concert will showcase such standard Sinatra songs as Fly Me to the Moon, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, and My Way alongside holiday hits like Let it Snow, Winter Wonderland, and Baby It’s Cold Outside.

When you watch mid-century movies or listen to the lounge music of the era, you feel cosy and comfortable,

Ilnytskyy told the Kyiv Post. “It’s like sitting around the fireplace with your family, drinking hot cocoa, and sharing your favourite stories. Sinatra, as one of the all-time greats, is the perfect soundtrack for these moments.”

The show follows the holiday tradition of crooners from Bing Crosby to Dean Martin to Michael Bublé, who mix sentimental seasonal stories, witty banter with the audience, and incredible vocals in a family-friendly holiday show to get you and your loved ones into the holiday spirit.

“Between the songs, I share stories about these legends, so that the audience gets to know the people behind the music” Ilnytskyy explained. “Just like you’d share stories with your friends and family around the fireplace.”

A popular holiday tradition in Kyiv since 2014, the Kyiv show is part of a national tour that also features performances in Vinnytsia (December 20), Dnipro (December 22), Lviv (December 23 & 27), Chernivtsi (December 24), and Kharkiv (December 29).

The performances will delight fans of Sinatra, lounge music, or even just songs in English. If you’re looking to relax to a feel-good night of sultry swing music while getting into the Christmas spirit, the Frank Sinatra Tribute: Evening of Christmas Hits is the concert for you.
