The meeting of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, by its decision, has instructed the head of the Constitutional Court to personally notify the president of Ukraine, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the prime minister about the situation that has developed due to the pressure on the Constitutional Court.

“The Constitutional Court of Ukraine over the past several months has been under constant pressure from public authorities, in particular the National Agency on Corruption Prevention of Ukraine, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and some politicians. Illegal influence is exerted on both individual judges of the Constitutional Court and the court in general, with the aim of stopping its operation, undermining authority and loss of public confidence,” the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine said in the statement, addressed to the president of Ukraine, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the prime minister.

In their statement, the judges said that in accordance with Part 2 of Article 149 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Article 24 of the law of Ukraine on the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, influence on the judge of the Constitutional Court in any way is prohibited.

“We officially say that despite the attempts of certain high-ranking officials and politicians to destabilize the work of the agency of constitutional jurisdiction, the Constitutional Court in its work will be guided by the Constitution, the law on the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and act exclusively in the interests of the Ukrainian people. Despite all the circumstances and conditions, in which the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has to work for a long time, despite accusations of bias, dissemination of incriminating information regarding the professional activities of judges and threats of their criminal prosecution, the Constitutional Court will continue to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution of Ukraine, protection of human and civil rights,” the judges said in the statement.

According to the statement, by the decision of the meeting of judges, Head of the Constitutional Court Olexksandr Tupitsky was instructed to personally notify the president, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the prime minister about the situation that has developed.
