The Podilsky District Court of Kyiv has granted the motion of the prosecutor’s office and extended a preventive measure in the form of detention until May 24 to Head of RIA Novosti-Ukraine Kirill Vyshinsky.
On May 15, 2018, Vyshinsky was detained in Kyiv and later charged with committing several crimes in Ukraine, including treason.
On May 16, 2018, he was taken to Kherson, where the city’s court remanded him in custody. The court later extended the period of pretrial detention several times and the court of appeals confirmed the decisions.
Vyshinsky denies any wrongdoing.
