You're reading: Court in absentia orders arrest of suspect in Brovary shooting

Brovary District Court of Kyiv region has in absentia arrested a suspect in a shootout in Brovary and remanded two others to house arrest, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has said.

“The court has just decided on a measure of restraint on three other defendants in the case: – on wanted list – detention without bail (in absentia), and remanded two others to house arrest due to guilty pleas, cooperation with the investigation and confession. They confirmed the creation of an organized group with the aim of committing unlawful acts,” Avakov said on Twitter on June 1.

Avakov said that testimony of the suspects reinforces the position of the investigation.”

Avakov added that work is ongoing.

As reported, as of Monday morning, the Brovarsky District Court of the Kyiv region remanded 20 suspects involved in the shooting to pre-trial custody.

On May 29 in Brovary, a conflict erupted between entrepreneurs engaged in passenger transportation and illegal carriers. Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said three participants in the shootout were injured from traumatic weapons.
