The Supreme Court of Russia has imprisoned Ukrainian citizens, illegally convicted Crimean Tatars Teymur Abdullaev, Uzeyir Abdullaev, Rustem Ismailov, Emil Dzhemadenov and Ayder Saledinov, Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada Liudmyla Denisova has said.

“Having examined the appeal against the illegal decision of the North Caucasian District Military Court, the appellate court determined the following terms: for Abdullayev Teymur – 16 years, six months in prison and one year and six months of administrative supervision, for Abdullaev Uzeyir – 12 years and six months, for Ismailov Rustem – 13 years and six months, for Emil Dzhemadenov and Ayder Salenedinov – 11 years and six months,” Denisova wrote on her Facebook page on Dec. 24.

The Ombudswoman again called on the international community to continue to exert pressure on the Russian Federation in order to achieve the abolition of illegal court decisions and return home the detained citizens of Ukraine, who are still illegally held in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation.

It was reported that the Crimean Tatars Teymur Abdullaev, Uzeyir Abdullaev, Rustem Ismailov, Emil Dzhemadenov and Aider Saledinov were illegally convicted by the North Caucasian District Military Court for allegedly participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir religious organization banned in the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine voiced protest against the Russian Federation in connection with the sentences to the Crimean Tatars.
