Kyiv’s Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the first instance court on the uncontested arrest of former MP of Ukraine Semen Semenchenko, suspected of involvement in the creation of an illegal armed formation.

“The measure of restraint in the form of uncontested detention has been upheld by the Court of Appeal,” the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) told Interfax-Ukraine on April 7.

Earlier, Pechersky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for Semenchenko in the form of detention for a period of two months without the possibility of bail.

As reported, on March 24, the State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) revealed and suppressed the activities of an illegal armed formation, the so-called “private military company,” whose activities were aimed at preparing for the commission of serious crimes, including against the foundations of national security.
