You're reading: Court of Appeal remands Sheremet murder suspect Antonenko in custody

Kyiv Court of Appeal has upheld the preventive measure in the form of detention for musician and veteran of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in Donbas Andriy Antonenko, a suspect in the case on the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet.

The court made this decision on Jan. 10, having considered the second appeal of Antonenko’s defense team against respective ruling of Kyiv Pechersky District Court, an Interfax-Ukraine reporter said.

“The appeal is dismissed,” the court said.

The court also overruled a motion for putting up bail for Antonenko.

The court voiced only the operative part of the judgment on Jan. 10. Its full text will be made public on January 15.

Antonenko’s supporters, who were present in the courtroom, chanted “Shame!” in response to the court ruling.
