On Aug. 6, Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv chose a measure of restraint in form of overnight house arrest for 1.5 months until 21 September for activist Serhiy Sternenko, suspected of premeditated murder when he was attacked in Odesa in 2018.

“They gave night house arrest from 21:00 to 6:00 until September 21,” Sternenko wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday evening.

As reported, on June 11, Sternenko was summoned for interrogation at SBU, where he was notified of suspicion of premeditated murder and illegal carrying of an offensive weapon. It concerns the events of 2018 in Odesa, when Sternenko was attacked. One of the attackers died. According to the investigation, Sternenko’s actions were not only self-defense, since he overtook one of the people who had attacked him and mortally wounded him.

On June 15, Shevchenkivsky district court chose a measure of restraint for activist Sternenko in form of 24/7 house arrest. Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld this decision.

On June 25, Sternenko reported that the Security Service of Ukraine had completed the investigation into his case and provided access to materials to the defense.
