Kyiv Court of Appeal, during a sitting on August 12, has ruled to keep the pre-trial restriction for Andriy Antonenko, a suspect in the case on the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet, unchanged.

“Andriy Antonenko remains in custody… Presiding judge Frych,” the Free Riff community said on Facebook.

As reported, on August 11, Kyiv Court of Appeal ruled to mitigate the pre-trial restriction for another suspect in the case, Yulia Kuzmenko, and released her for a round-the-clock home arrest.

Earlier, the court cancelled the pre-trial restriction in the form of a nighttime home arrest for suspect Yana Duhar.

Sheremet was killed in a car explosion in central Kyiv on July 20, 2016. The explosion occurred when Sheremet was driving a vehicle that belonged to Ukrayinska Pravda co-founder Olena Prytula, who was not in it at the time. The journalist died at the scene shortly following the bomb blast.

Military nurse Yana Duhar, volunteer and children’s doctor Yulia Kuzmenko, and musician and veteran of the war in Donbas Andriy Antonenko were officially notified of being suspected of killing Sheremet.

The pre-trial investigation was completed on May 22.
