Ukraine has registered 5,116 new cases of COVID-19 as of 9 a.m. on Jan. 12, bringing the total number of cases in the country since the start of the pandemic to over 1.12 million.
In the past 24 hours, 15,951 patients have recovered and 184 have died.
A total of 812,368 patients have recovered and 20,019 have died in Ukraine since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian laboratories have carried out 23,873 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 17,809 antibody tests. Over 5.8 million PCR tests have been conducted since the start of the pandemic.

The largest numbers of new cases have been recorded in the city of Kyiv (898), Poltava Oblast (520), Zaporizhia Oblast (463), Odesa Oblast (315) and Lviv Oblast (312).
The Ministry of Healthcare imposed a lockdown from Jan. 8 through Jan. 24 when it expects the burden on the country’s hospitals to increase due to COVID-19 and flu cases. The lockdown shuts down all but essential businesses. Pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, banks, postal operators, public transport, domestic/international travel and hotels are unaffected.

On Dec. 30, the President’s Office stated that Ukraine’s Ministry of Health has signed a contract for the country to receive 1.9 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine produced by China’s Sinovac Biotech “in the shortest possible term.” Each dose will be purchased for Hr 504 (just under $18).
