Ukraine has recorded 543 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on July 6, significantly less than the 823 recorded the previous day. However, the lower figure came on a day when Ukrainian laboratories conducted significantly fewer tests, meaning it may not represent a true decrease.
The new figure “is less than we have recorded (daily) for the past three weeks,” Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said during his morning briefing on July 6.
“I want to say thank you to those who follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and wear a mask, use antiseptic and social distance from other people,” Stepanov added.
In the past 24 hours, 13 Ukrainians have died, 172 have been hospitalized and 327 have recovered, according to Stepanov. The total number of infections in Ukraine now stands at 49,043, while a total of 21,703 citizens have recovered and 1,262 have died of the disease.
The largest numbers of new cases were registered in Lviv Oblast (104), Rivne Oblast (82), Kyiv (59) and Zakarpattia Oblast (54).
