You're reading: COVID-19 in Ukraine: 656 new cases, 901 dead, 31,810 infected

The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has reached 31,810 as of 9 a.m. on June 15, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at a morning press briefing.

In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has recorded 648 new cases. Twelve people have died, bringing the total death toll of COVID-19 in the country up to 901. Additionally, 171 patients have recovered, bringing country’s total number of recoveries to 14,253. Over the past 24 hours, 125 people have been hospitalized.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, 56 are children and 43 are medical workers.

After a rapid rise in the number of new infections during the past week, the numbers started to decrease slightly on June 13.

During his morning briefing on June 15, Stepanov said that Ukraine had performed 10,236 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours, notably less than the 18,247 tests conducted on June 12 and the 20,173 tests reported on June 1.

The most recent figure includes 7,950 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 2,286 antibody tests (IFA).

Since June 1, the Ukrainian government has begun to rapidly reopen the country’s economy. On June 15, Ukraine will reopen its borders and relaunch international passenger air travel.
