- Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has returned a motion to strip lawmaker Yaroslav Dubnevych of immunity to the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
- The “head of security” of the French “Yellow Jackets”anti-government movement has been identified as Victor Lenta, a French national and former paratrooper who fought for Russia’s proxy forces in the Donbas in the early part of Russia’s war on Ukraine. The revelation will deepen suspicions that the Kremlin is actively aiding efforts to undermine Western democracies, using techniques similar to those it tested earlier in Ukraine.
- A Polish suspect in the February 2018 firebombing of a Hungarian cultural center in Ukraine’s Zakarpattya Oblast has implicated a German far-right journalist with deep ties to Russia in organizing the attack.
- German journalist Manuel Ochsenreiter provided instructions for the Feb. 4, 2018, firebombing of the headquarters of the Hungarian Cultural Association in Uzhhorod in western Ukraine, a court in Krakow, Poland was told on Jan. 14 during the trial of a Polish man charged with carrying out the attack.
- Ukrainian officials have asked Twitter to block a page run by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russian-occupied Crimea. The account recently received a “blue tick” – official verification from Twitter – a move that generated outrage from Ukrainians on social media.

Russia’s war on Ukraine
- Low-level warfare grinds on in the east of Ukraine, with Ukraine’s military reporting two of its soldiers wounded in attacks by Russian-led forces since midnight on Jan. 13.
- The lawyers of the 24 Ukrainian sailors captured by Russia in international waters in the Black Sea on Nov. 25 demand open and transparent court hearings. Russia claims the sailors “violated Russia’s borders,” while Ukraine insists its servicemen should be treated as prisoners of war.

- Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Andrii Sybiha says Turkey has extended quotas on imports of cattle, goats, sheep, and meat from Ukraine with zero customs rates until the end of 2019.
- CSA Czech Airlines announces it will resume flights on the Odesa-Prague route from May 30, 2019.
