  •  The 20th EU-Ukraine summit was held in Brussels on July 9. E.U. leaders reaffirmed their support for the political and economic integration of Ukraine with the E.U., while Poroshenko promised that Ukraine had “no intention of slowing down on the reforms,” adding that some of the reforms Ukraine has undertaken already would be “suicide” for some E.U. governments.
  • Glory to Ukraine! The Croatian Football Federation sacked assistant coach Ognjen Vukojević over an ostensibly pro-Ukrainian video posted to social media with teammate teammate Domagoj Vida. Both had previously played for Dynamo Kyiv.
  • The SBU uses the catch-all charge of ‘financing separatism’ to extort Ukrainian businesses, often from the East, out of large sums of money.
  • President of the European Council Donald Tusk will urge US President Donald Trump to press for the release of all Ukrainian prisoners held in Russia at the upcoming Helsinki summit. Tusk said that he would meet with U.S. Ambassador to the E.U. Gordon Sondland and ask him to pass on the request.
  • Ukrainian writer Tetiana Maliarchuk has won a prestigious German-language literary award and 25,000 Euros for her debut short story in German.
  • Creating human capital and giving Ukraine’s young people a reason to stay in the country were on the agenda at the Ukrainian ID forum held in over the weekend in Kaniv.
  • The European Investment Bank will loan Ukraine 75 million Euros to improve road safety in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa.
