•  Slow progress. The High Qualification Commission of Judges has scheduled key written examinations for candidates for Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Court, while dragging its feet on setting up the Public Council of International Experts, potentially delaying or undermining the court’s creation.

•  Press under pressure. Ukraine gets a mediocre score in press freedom rankings. Experts say part of the reason is official indifference toward attacks on journalists.

•  English for NATO. In the last four years, Ukraine has significantly improved its military. Today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have a number of formations that meet NATO standards. But there’s one thing they really have to work on: English.

•  Surprise victors. Ukrainian paratroopers have taken the silver medal in the the British-organized Cambrian Patrol exercises in Wales.

•  Cheap getaway. New Ukrainian budget airline SkyUp has launched ticket sales for its first international flights — Hurghada, Egypt; Barcelona, Spain; Tbilisi, Georgia; Sofia, Bulgaria and Poprad, Slovakia.

•  Language of tech. Popular online tech journal AIN.ua has released a beta version of its future English-language website in a bid to extend its reach to the English-speaking world.
