Secretary of the Ukrainian National Defense and Security Oleksandr Danylyuk has said he does not see businessman Ihor Kolomoisky’s influence on new President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Asked in an interview with the Ukrayinska Pravda online media outlet published on July 3 how strong Kolomoisky’s influence on Zelensky is and how it has changed since Zelensky took office, Danylyuk replied, “I don’t see such influence in my work. There are some people associated with Kolomoisky in terms of their previous jobs or other links. Such people are also present on the list [of the Servant of the People Party] […] But I don’t see Kolomoisky’s direct influence on Zelensky.”

Andriy Bohdan, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, who has often been referred to as Kolomoisky’s lawyer, is currently pursuing an independent policy, he said.

“He is no longer Kolomoisky’s lawyer. He is pursuing an independent policy now. If he hadn’t been doing that, I think President Zelensky would have quickly corrected this situation,” Danylyuk said.
