You're reading: Danylyuk says electricity market could be launched from July 1

The scenario of launching the new electricity market from July 1, as envisaged by current legislation, is possible, and therefore it is also necessary to prepare for it, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Danylyuk has said.

Following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on May 31, he told journalists that under such a scenario all responsible structures are obliged to “work every day” to reduce its possible negative impact on the country’s economy.

Danylyuk said that at the meeting with the NSDC head President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy was embarrassed by the fundamentally opposing views of the subjects of the electricity market regarding this issue, therefore the head of state gave two weeks to form a single position on the expediency of postponing the launch of the electricity market scheduled for July 1 and its consideration by the NSDC.
