Copies of the materials on a pre-trial investigation into the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet have been made for all suspects and their defense teams, the press service of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine said.
“Thirty-eight volumes of the materials on the pre-trial investigation against suspects Andriy Antonenko, Yulia Kuzmenko and Yana Duhar were selected for a separate case and opened for reading,” it said.
The pre-trial investigation into the Sheremet case took 1,402 days. The files consist of 38 volumes on three suspects and more than 200 on the other defendants, organizers and paymasters of the crime.
“A range of investigatory and search activities was carried out to identify the executors and organizers. In particular, almost 20,000 hours of video recordings (made during five days to two months) were processed, more than 3,000 people were questioned, around 44,000 phone numbers, 15,000 IMEI and 400 tracking operations were processed (each tracking operation included 4,000 to 200,000 connections). In addition, 180 investigatory (search) operations were carried out and 106 comprehensive expert examinations were appointed,” the ministry said.
Copies of all materials on the pre-trial investigation are available for all suspects and their defense teams. The lawyers may familiarize themselves with the files on working days at the Main Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine or together with suspects in the detention facility of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv.
