You're reading: Demand for used imported cars in Ukraine 4.6 times higher than for new cars

Primary registrations in Ukraine of used cars imported from abroad in October increased 1.5 times compared to October 2019, to 38,800 units, which became a record figure since the beginning of this year, the Ukrautoprom association reported on Nov. 9.

At the same time, the association reminded that last month Ukrainians bought 8,400 passenger cars, i.e. registrations of imported used cars were almost five times higher than the new car market.

The largest share in the total registrations of used cars in October fell on foreign cars manufactured 10 years ago (40%), while cars under five years old and those produced 6-10 years ago accounted for 30% each.

Preferred used foreign cars with gasoline engines were registered (58%), the share of diesel cars was 29%, hybrid and electric cars accounted for 3% of registrations, and every tenth registered car was with gas equipment installed.

According to Ukrautoprom, the most popular used car of the month was Renault Megane (2,423 registrations). The second was Volkswagen Passat (2,022 units), in third place is Škoda Octavia with the result of 1,996 cleared and registered cars.

Since the beginning of 2020, 281,100 used cars imported from other countries have received Ukrainian registration, which is 4.1 times more than new car registrations.
