Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova at a meeting with Counselor for Political Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine David Gehrenbeck said that 112 Ukrainian citizens are being illegally detained on the territory of the Russian Federation and occupied Crimea, some 235 people are in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (ORDLO).
“Now the Russian Federation is persecuting 134 Ukrainian citizens for political reasons. Some 112 people are illegally detained in prisons on the territory of the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied Crimea. Some 235 of our fellow citizens are held captive in temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” Denisova wrote on her Telegram channel following the meeting.
“I noted that my team is carrying out systematic work aimed at protecting the rights of all captives of the aggressor country and their early release,” she said.
