Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated that Turkey did not and does not recognize the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.

“We perceive Ukraine as a key country in terms of the security and stability of our region. Within this framework, we always support, supported and will support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea. Turkey did not and does not recognize the annexation of Crimea,” he said on a briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after their meeting in Istanbul on Oct. 16.

Erdogan said that Turkey will continue to support the Crimean Tatars together with the state institutions of Ukraine.

“Now we continue to work on the implementation of housing construction projects for our Crimean Tatars brothers and the construction of a mosque in Kyiv,” he said.

As reported, on Feb. 3, during a visit to Kyiv and a meeting with Zelensky, Erdogan said that Turkey supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.
