You're reading: Poroshenko: EU financial aid should be used to support low-income, business

Fifth President of Ukraine, leader of the European Solidarity party, and MP Petro Poroshenko believes that the authorities should direct the funds allocated by the European Union as macro-financial assistance to Ukraine to support people from vulnerable categories, as well as small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).

“The allocation by the European Union of 600 million euros of macro-financial assistance is a timely and necessary step to support our country in the face of economic and energy challenges caused by both the actions of the Ukrainian-hating Russian aggressor and the ineffective policy of the authorities,” Poroshenko said on Facebook on Oct. 25.

He said the European Union, as “a reliable partner and ally, continues to resolutely stand side by side with Ukraine in countering dangerous threats.”

“We expect that (Volodymyr) Zelensky’s team will use these important resources to help vulnerable segments of society, as well as small and medium-sized businesses, and not on dubious populist projects,” the MP said.
