BRUSSELS – The EU and the U.S. have expressed their readiness to support reform programs in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, the European Council said on June 15.
“We are determined to support the reform path of Ukraine, Georgia, and the Republic of Moldova,” the EU’s statement made public following the EU-U.S. summit reads.
In addition, Brussels and Washington are determined “to continue to stand in support of the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the EU’s Eastern partners.”
The final document of the summit notes that the parties also expressed support for the Belarusian people and their demands regarding the observance of human rights.
They expressed their determination in the document to hold the Lukashenko regime liable for the increase in the facts of violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as for the creation of threats to aviation security.
Moreover, the EU and the U.S. expressed their readiness to work to achieve “long-term peace, resilience and stability in the South Caucasus.”
