The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide Ukraine with a loan of 270 million euros for the reconstruction of the second maneuvering area at Boryspil International Airport, including the construction of a modern runway.

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy informed about that on his Facebook page.

“Ukraine will receive 270 million euros for the development of Boryspil International Airport, namely the reconstruction of the second maneuvering area, including the construction of a modern runway, a system of taxiways and other necessary infrastructure. The grace period for the loan is three years, and the repayment period, including preferential is 20 years,” he said.

Krykliy also said the existing second runway was put into operation in 1971 and has already worked out its 50-year life.

He said the reconstruction of the maneuvering area will be carried out taking into account the recommendations of the international organizations ICAO and IATA.

“Due the implementation of the project, we expect an increase in the airport’s capacity to 56 million passengers a year. In particular, by improving the technical equipment, the competitiveness of the enterprise, expanding the route network and attracting new air carriers,” the minister said.
