A letter of accusation was sent to a Kyiv court against a representative of a public organization who, pretending to be an “advisor” to the head of the President’s Office, received $100,000 for not prosecuting a state official, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has said.

“The indictment against the representative of a public organization has been sent to the court. He is accused of receiving $100,000 fraudulently. This relates to an attempt to incite a person to provide undue benefits (Part 4 of Article 190, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 4 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 369 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the SBI’s website said.

The investigation found that the representative of a public organization, pretending to be authorized by head of the President’s Office, Prosecutor General, Secretary of the NSDC and the new SBI leadership, attempted to seize the funds of the former director of the state enterprise. Thus, the pseudo-adviser demanded and received from the citizen $100,000 for resolving the issue of not being held criminally liable according to the results of an audit by the State Audit Service.

The procedural management of the pretrial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by the prosecutor’s office of Kyiv region.
