Former Head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanyslav Shevchuk has called the incident at the Constitutional Court on May 14 “an anti-constitutional coup,” in connection with which he intends to appeal to court and law enforcement agencies.

“Today an anti-constitutional coup occurred in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the seizure of state power by those who held the posts of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. (…) I don’t intend to give up and tomorrow I will go to court and law enforcement agencies,” Shevchuk wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, the judges of the Constitutional Court committed a “serious criminal offense connected with the overthrow of the constitutional system,” and the “coup took place in a hurry, with gross and flagrant violations of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine “On the Constitutional Court,” the Regulations of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

“Of course, main beneficiary Poroshenko is behind this crime, who makes every effort to retain power by retaining control over the main state institutions,” Shevchuk said.

As reported, head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Shevchuk was dismissed by a vote on May 14. Natalia Shaptala has become the new head of the court.
