Four people have been wounded after separatist fired multiple rocket launchers to shell the village of Novoluhanske in the Bakhmut District of Donetsk region on December 18 evening, Head of Donetsk Regional Military and Civil Administration Pavlo Zhebrivsky has said in an update.
As of 6:35 p.m. local time, “eight houses have been identified which took a direct hit. Three of them have burnt down, two [fires] were put out and the third one is still being tackled. Four people – two women and two men – were wounded. They are being treated in the Bakhmut and Svitlodarsk hospitals. One person was heavily injured and is now undergoing surgery,” Zhebrivsky wrote on Facebook.
He warned that there was a likelihood of another separatist strike on the village. “The people were warned and are hiding in shelters,” Zhebrivsky wrote, adding that the operational headquarters is working.
In addition, power lines in the village have been damaged, he said.
In turn, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that police are working on the scene, they are documenting the consequences of the attack and provide assistance to residents.
“[The attack is being investigated under] Article 258 (a terrorist act) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the ministry said on its Facebook page.
