According to the German-French Declaration, which was circulated by the German Federal Government on May 31, in light of recent tensions, the officials underline the importance of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements and the conclusions of the Paris Summit in December 2019 for a viable settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, they are committed to achieving this goal in the Normandy format, and they appreciate the various OSCE actions.

It is also noted that unresolved problems with respect to Russia, including destabilizing behavior and repeated violations of international law, affect relations between countries and require decisive action.

In the press release, the officials reaffirmed their commitment to continue dialogue with Russia based on common EU principles and selective participation in areas of common interest.
