The hearing on the indictment in the gas case against member of parliament Oleksandr Onyshchenko and his financial director Olena Pavlenko did not take place on Thursday. The next hearing is scheduled for October 3, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has said.

“On August 22, the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv did not hold a hearing to consider the indictment in the so-called ‘gas case’ against Onyshchenko and its financial director Pavlenko. Judging by the absence of the representative of the civil plaintiff, the panel of judges decided to adjourn,” SAPO said on Facebook.

The next hearing is scheduled for October 3.

As reported, a pretrial investigation into the theft of funds during the production and sale of natural gas under Ukrgazvydobuvannia joint venture agreements, which resulted in losses of about Hr 3 billion to the state, was launched by the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine in December 2015. Some 27 persons are suspected of being involved in the crimes.

Eight suspects pleaded guilty and entered into guilty plea agreements. An investigation into the role of another 12 individuals has also been completed, with indictments against them been sent to court. Several suspects, including Onyshchenko have been put on the wanted list.
