You're reading: General Staff: Enemy Still Intends to Completely Capture Donetsk and Luhansk Regions

Russia is not abandoning plans to fully seize Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, Ukrinform reports.

Citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, the state-run news agency said Russia “continues to partially block the city of Kharkiv, firing from multiple rocket launchers, artillery and mortars.”

Throughout the day on April 11, Russia unsuccessfully stormed the city of Severodonetsk.

“Attempts to advance deep into Ukraine to improve the tactical situation were unsuccessful,” the statement said.

In southeastern Donetsk region, Mariupol remains besieged.

The General Staff said there cases of desertion among Russian units in the southern Kherson region.

“Among the personnel of the occupation units in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea there is information that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning a counteroffensive in the Kherson region with the possibility of success and attack on the Crimean peninsula,” the General Staff added.

From February 24 to April 11, Russian troops lost about 19,500 servicemen, Ukraine’s military estimates.
