You're reading: Gerashchenko proposes considering bill on illegal enrichment after bill on state language

Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Chairperson Iryna Gerashchenko has proposed taking up the draft law on restoring illegal enrichment to the Criminal Code after voting on the bill on state language.

“I ask the leaders of the factions after the consideration of the law on the functioning of the state language and voting for this bill, I consider it necessary … first to include for our consideration the return to the Criminal Code of the article on illegal enrichment,” Gerashchenko said at the conciliation board of faction leaders and groups of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on April 8.

She also noted the need to return to the discussion on the abolition of electronic declaration for anti-corruption civil activists.

“We must also vote on the law on military ranks, on sergeant ranks, which brings the Armed Forces closer to NATO standards, and amend the law on demining,” she said.

Gerashchenko said the parliament is currently considering at second reading draft law No. 5670-d.

“On April 9, tomorrow, we will begin our work with consideration of amendments to the bill,” she said, noting deputies passed 1,220 amendments to the bill and 862 remain.

At the same time, she added that the weekly agenda includes the blocks of questions proposed by the committees in the field of agrarian policy, computerization, energy and ratification.

Gerashchenko in Kyiv on April 8 chaired the meeting of parliamentary factions and group leaders. Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy is currently visiting Qatar, where he is taking part in the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada began to consider bill No. 5670-d on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state at a plenary session on February 28.
