The cost of completing the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge in Kyiv is about 350 million euro, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany Alexander Dobrindt has said.

According to the website of Kyiv City State Administration, Dobrindt said this during the inspection of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge together with Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany Rainer Bomba.

Dobrindt also said the German side has already completed the expert evaluation of the project on the bridge completion and will give the results to Kyiv authorities.

“The Kyiv mayor and the ministry I head agreed we will carry out an expert assessment of the state of this bridge – both static structures and the possibilities for further construction. Today we will pass the results of research to Kyiv. I can first say that the expert conclusions are positive. Both sides must now make efforts to find financing to complete the bridge. I can say: Germany has a very big interest in Kyiv’s developing and being a successful city,” the official said.

According to Klitschko, bridges in Kyiv are overloaded, some by 130 percent, and the opening of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge will allow improving transport links between the left and right banks of Kyiv, and subsequently to build a subway to the Troyeschyna residential area.
