Germany is allocating about 5 million euros through the Workers Samaritan Federation (ASB) in Germany to help people affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

As the German Embassy in Ukraine said on Friday, the federal government allocated an additional 4.93 million euros for the period from 2019 to 2021, thanks to which the total amount of ASB assistance in Ukraine exceeded 11 million euros.

“The new phase of the project implemented since May 2019 targets territorial communities located in Luhansk and Donetsk regions that are controlled by the government of Ukraine (near the contact line). It serves to strengthen the guaranteed supply of food and hygiene items to people most affected by the conflict, in particular, to many older people,” the report says.

The diplomats explained that other components of the project envisage the provision of construction, heat insulation, and fuel materials to people living in the most unsuitable homes for use in the winter period.

In addition, children, adolescents, the elderly and people with disabilities receive counseling and psychosocial support.
