The German embassy hopes to open its visa department in June, German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen has said.
“The problem is that so far we have not received instructions from our Ministry of Foreign Affairs that allow us to really open visa departments in general. We are planning to do this this month, you can read about it, including on Facebook … I hope it will be very soon,” she said during a Facebook chat on June 10.
Feldhusen added that those people for whom the deadline for applying for a visa has come before quarantine will be invited to the embassy first.
“This week we have already opened a small visa department, but only for those cases where there are humanitarian reasons. That is, people who have humanitarian reasons to go to Germany. And we will also try whether we can comply with the quarantine criteria that and it’s very important for you not to get sick, and for our employees as well,” she said.
Feldhusen also noted that in the visa department of the embassy they rearranged furniture and created large spaces so that people could wait their turn with a distance. In addition, it was decided that passports with visas would be mailed to citizens in the future.
