You're reading: Government approves agreements with Ankara on granting $15 million in military aid to Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an intergovernmental agreement with Turkey on military-financial cooperation, as well as an intergovernmental protocol on the allocation of $15 million of Turkish financial assistance to Ukraine in 2017-2021.

The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday.

As reported, in December 2016, Ukraine and Turkey signed an intergovernmental agreement on military-financial cooperation and an inter-governmental protocol on the allocation of financial aid, providing for Ankara’s allocation to Kyiv on an annual basis during five years of funds for the purchase of Turkish military and dual-use goods for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In 2017, within the framework of the agreement, the Turkish side will allocate $3.1 million for these purposes. The agreements also include short-term training of the Armed Forces in the training centers of the Turkish Armed Forces.

On the part of Ukraine, this document was signed by Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Andriy Sibiha, on the part of Turkey – head of the sub-secretariat of the defense industry of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey Ismail Demir.
