Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Dmytro Dubilet states that the government intends to simplify and shorten the procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship in timeframes.
“We see a problem in the way a person can obtain citizenship in Ukraine,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Feb. 6.
According to him, this is a very lengthy procedure, which allows for the possibility of corruption risks.
“We are now trying to simplify and, most importantly, shorten this procedure,” said Dubilet.
In addition, the minister noted that at the moment, when foreign tourists from visa-free countries have a desire to stay in Ukraine after 90 days expire, they are forced to have a good reason for this, as well as to leave the country to obtain a visa, and then call back to get a residence permit.
“We are now trying to simplify this procedure so that a person could get this permit without the obligation to have a separate visa,” he added.
