Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman at a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini has stressed the need to stop Russia’s aggression, including in the energy sector.

“If to concentrate gas delivery in Russian hands, this is a big danger. The Nord Stream 2 project will lead to the physical destruction of the Ukrainian gas transportation system as a key element in fuel delivery to the EU,” the website of the Ukrainian government reads citing Groysman.

Speaking about the transit potential of Ukraine and Slovakia, the interlocutors noted not only the energy component of the issue (Slovakia has been providing reverse gas supplies to Ukraine for 4.5 years), but also a transport component.

In a political context, the parties touched upon the issue of extending sanctions against the Russian Federation because of its actions in Donbas and in the waters of the Sea of Azov.

“The aggressor must pay a high price for its actions. If Ukraine did not stand, then the Russian enemy would go further,” the Ukrainian prime minister said.
