You're reading: Harmash: TCG talks on Donbas on political, humanitarian subgroups blocked

As a result of the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Donbas, which took place in the format of an online conference on Sept. 2, some results were achieved, but the humanitarian and political direction were blocked, representative of the occupied parts of Donetsk region in the TCG Serhiy Harmash said.

“There are no results for the political subgroup. The political discussion of the Steinmeier formula, the law on special status, what they themselves always demanded of us, they actually blocked. There are results on the opening of new entry-exit checkpoints, two entry-exit checkpoints will be opened in Luhansk region in November. At least, we are preparing for this and we declare it, and the other side does not deny it. Most likely this is Zolote and Schastia settements, as far as I remember,” he said on the air of the Ukraine 24 television channel.

In addition, some 19 demining sites were agreed at the meeting.

“There are definite results, unfortunately, but there are no results on the humanitarian subgroup, on the exchange, the other side blocked the process, it does not provide lists for exchange, arguing this with its ultimatum, which they continue to repeat like a mantra – they demand the abolition of the Verkhovna Rada decree on local elections,” Harmash said.

Harmash also said that the next meeting of the TCG in the format of a videoconference is scheduled for Sept. 16.
