You're reading: Helicopter transports baby from Rivne to Kyiv as part of pilot project on aeromedical evacuation

On August 5, the National Police of Ukraine transported a six-month-old boy by helicopter from Rivne Regional Children’s Hospital to the National Children’s Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt (Kyiv), the Ministry of Health said on Facebook.

According to the report, the infant was diagnosed with sepsis and bilateral bacterial destruction of the lungs. He will be treated in “Okhmatdyt” by specialists in respiratory support and treatment of immunodeficiencies.

Within the framework of the aeromedical evacuation project, priority in assistance is given to patients with acute circulatory delay, disorders of the cardiovascular system and cerebrovascular accidents, as well as severe traumatic injuries.

The pilot project provides for the transportation of difficult patients from 14 regional centers of Ukraine.
